Ferrara builds a solid truck, but Pierce is the industry leader in safety and innovation. The council members may should have thought about those fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and other family members that will be affected if something is to happen to one of their own. $30,000 isn’t as expensive as losing a loved one. I commend Chief Beard for proposing the more expensive truck because I am sure he had the safety of his firefighters and sanity their families in mind. However I do feel that Chief Beard should ask the three opposing council members to ride along on some early morning (3 AM) calls and let them see first hand that sometime reliability and safety are more important then “meeting the specs”.

Just wanted to set the record straight that the MVA was at the 364 MM and this unit was the first on the scene having just arrived and the FF that was injured was in the truck when it occurred.

Awesome Ladder Placement Guys!!!  I love seeing good work on these sites!!  People love to criticize, but then you get good work like this and no one applauds!!!

Here is the rest of my Previous Post….....

i would say that the county look at this system of
how it works or similar systems to give and gain ideas. i mena its
great i think it works really well, that is my take on this here deal, where no one looses only wins.

ok here is my take on it. i am from Jacksonville, currently ive in columbia sc where the county and city fire are merged. i am one of the many many volunteers. it works out great only diff is that the two stations that i run out of in my battalion E-30 and
E-22, we have one paid engineer 24 hour shift and 22 has the battalion housed in station. we have volunteer cpts lts and chiefs, respond on a pager system to the location of the call and everything we fight fire like normal, we take orders from the paid officers or engineer who ever is the IC. the VOLUNTEER officers are as that if they arrive on location first and establish command of an incident they are in command end of story. only diff to that is if the incident requiers a chief to be in command and he assumes it the cpts and lts give it up and if its a vol chief they can keep command or give it over thier choice. works great i love it you learn really well from the diff guys cause of thier experience and what have you.
