Egypt-Ramseytown Volunteer Fire Department
YANCEY COUNTY, NC – Congratulations to Chief Morris Phillips, Mike Fox, chairman of the Apparatus Committee and the members of the Egypt-Ramseytown Volunteer Fire Department of Yancey County, NC, on the recent delivery of their 2016 Freightliner / 4 Guys pumper/tanker.
It is built on a Freightliner M2-106 chassis with a Cummins ISL 350 h.p. diesel engine with a C-Brake by Jacobs compression brake and an Allison 3000 EVS transmission. It has a 14,700 front axle and a 31,000 rear axle. It has dual remote and heated mirrors and an adjustable telescoping tilt steering wheel. A Kussmaul Pump Plus 1000 battery conditioner with auto eject and an air line with auto eject are installed. It has 6 strand Insta-Chain snow chains. It is dressed out with aluminum wheels with Real Wheels stainless steel wheel trim kits.
The pump is a Hale QMax 1500 g.p.m. single stage with a mechanical seal with an anode system. It has a Hale QD relief valve and a Trident Automatic Air Primer. It has two 6″ side suctions and a gated 2 1/2’ suction. It has a 5 rear suction with 6 threads and its own Trident air primer and MIV valve. All valves are Akron 8000 heavy duty valves. A booster reel is mounted between the frame rails in the rear of the truck. It has two crosslay pre-connected 1 ½ discharges with 2 plumbing. It has two 2 ½ left pump panel discharges and one 2 ½ and one 3 with 5 Storz right pump panel discharge. There is a 2 ½ discharge through the front bumper for relay pumping. It also has a 2 ½ rear discharge. The tank to pump line is 4-inches.
The water tank is a 1500 gallon UPF poly tank. There are ICI water level gauges on the pump panel and rear of the truck. There are two rear direct tank fill valves. It has an electric operated stainless steel Newton rear 180 degree swivel dump valve with extension for side dumping.
The body and sub-frame are all 12 gauge 304 grade stainless steel and has 4 Guys famous 30 year warranty. It has two full height left side compartments, one high side compartment and two lower right side compartments. The compartments contain two slide out trays, two poly tool boards and three adjustable shelves. The right side has a Zico Hydraulic Dump Tank Lift System with a stainless steel cover painted to match the body. There are also compartments for suction hoses, pike poles and attic ladder at the rear. Ladders are carried in a special open top compartment in the rear. A third suction hose is carried on the dump tank rack. There are four double SCBA spare bottle compartments holding eight spare bottles. There is a custom built stainless steel ladder to access the hose bed and ladders and at the same time accommodate the swivel dump valve chute.
The light bar is a Whelen 62 LED Justice bar. The body includes six Whelen 9 series LED fixed scene lights and the two on the rear are tied to reverse. There are two Fire Research LED Spectra scene lights on push up telescoping poles, one on each pump panel. The upper level & lower level red emergency lights are Whelen M-6 series LED’s. It has a Whelen electronic siren and dual air horns. It has a Voyager Rear View Back Up camera system. Both the cab and right and left front compartments have 120 VAC shoreline power. The truck is equipped with two Firecom wireless headsets.
