John W. Franks

The son of a volunteer fireman, John practically grew up at the firehouse. He now has over 20+ years of public safety service in his own right.

After leaving the U.S. Army as a Special Forces medic, he graduated from Wake Technical Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Science. He served as a paramedic for 10 years with different Durham and Wake County EMS agencies, and also volunteered as a firefighter and first responder with two fire departments in Wake County.

John now resides in Warren County and is a volunteer firefighter with the Warrenton Rural VFD where he is also their “official” photographer and administrator of their social media site. A longtime fire buff and shutterbug, he photographs public safety events and on-scene incidents in Wake, Warren and surrounding counties, and is a recurrent photo contributor to the Warren Record newspaper. Additionally, he volunteers with the Plummer Hook & Ladder Museum and Historical Society in Warrenton.

Currently, John is a Training Coordinator with the Raleigh-Wake County Emergency Communications Center, where he has worked since 1991. He is a NC General Instructor and CPR Instructor, and is certified as an Emergency Telecommunicator, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Fire Dispatcher, and Emergency Number Professional.

His CFP Number is 7916.
