Glenn Rainey




Deputy Chief Rainey began his fire service career in 1984 as a volunteer in his home town of Emporia, VA. In 1988 he was hired by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department in Dare County, NC, an area widely known as the Outer Banks. Glenn went to work as the Assistant Chief of the Colington Volunteer Fire Department in April 2001 and has assisted in the growth and development of the department into a combination department. He was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2007. He is also a part time Deputy Fire Marshal for Dare County.

Glenn serves on the board of the Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association, and is a charter member of the Outer Banks Professional Fire Fighters Association.

Deputy Chief Rainey is a NC Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector, EMT-B and Fire and Life Safety Educator. He completed the initial offering of the Fire and Rescue Management Institute at UNC Charlotte in 2007.

He is married and his wife is a nurse at a local Outer Banks facility. In his spare time Glenn is a member of the First Flight Cruisers Car Club, enjoys ATV riding and motorsports.
