Firefighter Killed By Tornado Responding to Call



COLUMBUS COUNTY - Firefighter Michael Timothy Browne was killed Thursday while responding to a call when his residence was struck by a tornado. Seven others were killed in the small community, including his father and stepmother. His daughter received severe injuries.

Browne had been a firefighter for three years.

Initial Summary:   During a severe weather incident, Firefighter Browne received and was responding to an emergency medical call. As he was departing from his residence, the area was hit by a tornado and Browne was severely injured, passing away at the scene.
