Guilford Department Helps Set the Record Straight

RALEIGH - After publishing Part 1 of our series on fire department re-numbering needs, we received the following email from Fire Chief Gary McGee, Jr., of the Climax Fire Department in Guilford County.

Dear Editor:

This email is to set the record straight on the article titled "Rowan County Re-Numbers Apparatus; Other Departments Around the State Should Too" published Monday, August 6, 2007.

The fifth paragraph states that Climax Fire Department was a detractor of the number change and did not participate. This information is false and someone did not do their homework very well. Climax Fire Department did take part in the number change, even though our department has 2 stations, one in Guilford County and one in Randolph County. Both of our fire stations have changed to the new apparatus numbers and we have been very pleased with the change.

It was in fact Julian Fire Department and Guil-Rand that chose not to participate with the number change and instead to be considered Randolph Departments. I hope this clears the record and I would appreciate a reprint or rebuttle listed on the website to correct this mistake. If there are any further questions, please feel free to contact me at (number removed). Thank you for your time.

Gary McGee Jr.
Chief
Climax Volunteer Fire Department

Thanks for the correction Chief.
