Firefighter Dies After Responding to House
Fire

HARNETT COUNTY -
FireNews.net has been notified that Firefighter Ottis Earl
Stephenson, 61, died Wednesday, May 9. He had responded with his
department on an Equipment Truck to a reported structure fire on
May 8. Firefighter Stephenson did not engage in firefighting
activities, but remained with staged companies on the truck. Units
were on scene for eighteen minutes for the incident.
He passed away approximately fifteen hours later. The cause of
death is believed to be medical related (stress/cardiac).
He was a twenty-one year veteran of the department.

The arrangements are as follows:
Visitation will be Saturday, May 12 from 1800 to 2000 hours at
Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 East McIver Street, Angier.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 13 at 1400 hours at the
Angier Baptist Church, 155 South Hickory Street, Angier. Burial
will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
