WAKE FOREST - Wake Forest Crews
stayed busy late Monday and early Tuesday battling two
different private dwelling fires.
The first fire occurred at 3708
Windmeade Road in the Stonegate Subdivision. Wake Forest
Engine 431 arrived to find heavy smoke showing from a
two-story private dwelling. Chief Swift arrived, assumed
command, and determined that there were fire conditions
underneath the home, on the interior of the first and second
floor and in the attic. A total of four lines were stretched
to conduct fire suppression operations.
High winds hampered the firefighting efforts on the second
floor and in the attic area. It took crews from several
departments approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under
control. Crews remained on scene for another 3 hours
conducting extensive overhaul operations. The 3500 square foot
dwelling was constructed utilizing light weight roof trusses
and light weight floor joists.
Backed by high wind conditions, these components were consumed
very quickly by the advancing fire conditions. No injuries
were reported and the fire is still under investigation.
Many thanks
go out to the firefighting crews for their aggressive efforts
in bringing this fire under control. Many thanks also go out
to the Wake County and Rolesville EMS crews for their
assistance at this incident.

dwelling with moderate smoke conditions throughout the
interior. Engine 61 arrived and stretched a line to the rear
to conduct suppression operations. Engine 431 arrived and was
assigned the primary and to check for extension.
Ladder 65 and Stony Hill Engine 264 arrived and were assigned
ventilation. It took crews approximately 10 minutes to bring
the fire under control. Crews remained on scene for another
hour conducting overhaul and ventilation operations.
The 4000
