Volunteer Firefighter Dies in Crash

ROCKINGHAM
COUNTY - Volunteer Firefighter Paul Lewis Ellington, age 36, died
January 1, 2008 at the scene of a single vehicle collision while
he was responding to a reported structure fire with possible
trapped victims.
Paul was a seventeen year veteran with the Oregon Hill Volunteer
Fire Department.
Initial reports indicate that speed was a factor in the collision.
Ellington was apparently not wearing a seat belt. He was ejected
from his vehicle.
Ellington was honored as the Oregon Hill 2003 Firefighter of the
Year. His father was an original member of the department.
The arrangements are as follows:
Visitation will be Thursday, January 3 at the Wilkerson Funeral
Home, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, from 1800 to 2100 hours.
Funeral Services: Friday, January 4 at 1500 hours at the Mount
Carmel United Methodist Church in Reidsville at 361 Mount Carmel
Road.
