WILKES COUNTY - The Pleasant Hill
Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. has taken delivery of a 2008/Freedom
Fire Equipment F-550 4x4 6.4L 5-speed automatic diesel with an
eleven foot rescue style body featuring ROM roll-up doors. The unit
features a 300 gallon UPF Defender poly tank and a Darley 2B#23V 390
gpm 23hp pump with (2) 1.75-inch cross-lays with an additional
1.5-inch and 2.5-inch discharge.
The vehicle carries a full complement of medical equipment including
AED, backboard, stokes basket, suction unit, pulse oximeter, splints
and various other medical supplies. The unit also carries a PPV fan,
K-12 saw and other miscellaneous hand tools and equipment.
The unit will be first-out on all medical calls, which comprise
approximately 60% of Pleasant Hill's call load. The unit was
manufactured by Freedom Fire Equipment of Marietta, Georgia.
