DIVE RESCUE BOAT
HIGH POINT - The High Point Fire Department has received a new custom built all aluminum 24' long x 8'-6" wide pontoon watercraft built by Clark Boats in Bellevue, Iowa. Clark specializes in custom heavy duty boats, barges and ships. This unit features a 115 hp two stroke Mercury outboard motor, cantilever canopy, non-skid flooring, 40" high aluminum rails, a 2000 watt Honda generator and a custom built Clark tandem axle trailer.

The craft features a lifting winch mounted on the bow with a lifting capacity of 750 pounds which could be used to lift a loaded stokes basket or other heavy items. The boat has a rated payload of 4000#. It was built in seventy days and was test on the Mississippi River.

The unit will be used mainly for Dive Rescue activities. The Dive Team is in the process of deciding on the layout for the dive gears. Plans are to have scuba gear mounted and ready for fast donning in order to execute a rapid rescue effort. The funds for the purchase of this boat came from the Deep River Fire Department Association.

Appreciation is extended to Fire Captain Tim Wright of Engine 5-C for information.
