STOKESDALE - Stokesdale Engine
121 collided with a fuel tanker while responding to a call on
December 19. The crash resulted in the tanker flipping and
experiencing a large product spill. Several companies including
units from Greensboro responded to assist.

LINCOLN COUNTY - A
tractor-trailer carrying over three tons of low-grad Uranium en
route to Wilmington overturned at the Interstate 40/95near Benson last Thursday night. Benson Fire and EMS, NCSHP, DOT, NC
Nuclear Regulatory, Johnston SO, Benson Police and the Johnston
County Fire Marshal's Office responded. Three heavy duty wreckers
were used to upright the vehicle. The product was double secured
inside two steel containers. Eastbound I-40 was closed for more than
six hours for the cleanup.

GARNER -
The Garner Fire Department conducted a promotion
and graduation ceremony at Station 3 on Sunday honoring Captains B.
Penny, S. Godwin, D. Lindsey; Lieutenants J. Deitch, D. Denning, S.
Young, T. Rooks, and Firefighters D. Ward, G. Hodges, R. Coreia. The
three firefighters graduated from the fire department's very first
fire academy. Speakers included Mayor Ronnie Williams, Fire Chief
Phil Mitchell, Fire Department President Steve Woodall, and Wake
County Fire Instructor and retired Raleigh Fire Department Captain
Wilbert "Tramp" Dunn.

Hill Habitat House Saved By Sprinkler System Installed by
Firefighters

CHAPEL HILL - On December 21,
the Chapel Hill Fire Department along with automatic aid units from
Carrboro responded to a reported structure fire. Firefighters
arrived at the Habitat for Humanity House to find most of the fire
extinguished by a fire sprinkler system installed by the
firefighters themselves.
