SLIDE SHOW
Heavy Fire Showing on Arrival
THU DEC 20
SUBMITTED BY CAPTAIN ROB BRISLEY, CHARLOTTE FIRE DEPARTMENT PIO
CHARLOTTE - Charlotte Fire dispatchers received a number of 9-1-1 calls at 5:36 a.m. on December 15th reporting an apartment on fire at 1634 North Wind Place (just off of Sharon Rd West). When Charlotte firefighters arrived at the Aspen Peak Apartment Homes, they reported heavy flames showing from the 1st floor unit up to the roof and attic area. Fortunately no one was injured as it took over forty-five firefighters nearly an hour to control the incident.

At least four units suffered significant damage and the American Red Cross responded to assist up to eight families who were displaced from this early morning fire. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force responded and ruled the cause to be accidental. Fire Investigators traced the caused to improperly discarded smoking materials on a second floor deck. Damage estimates by Charlotte Fire Official were put at approximately $500K.
