KANNAPOLIS - The Kannapolis Fire Department responded to this working fire at 310 West 9th Street on December 15. Engines 11, 21, Ladder 1, Battalion 1 and Engine 442 from Landis responded. The fire was controlled in 15 minutes. The cause is being investigated.

WARSAW - On December 14 at 0300 hours, Warsaw and Magnolia were dispatched to College and Bell Streets for a reported structure fire. Units arrived to find a gas station heavily involved. A second alarm was transmitted for Kenansville and Turkey (Sampson). Multiple lines were pulled, and the fire declared under control at 0600.

HARNETT COUNTY - Angier-Black River Fire Engineer William Taylor mans the controls at a fire that destroyed an abandoned house on Lillington Street. Firefighters from Angier, Coats, Fuquay and Buies Creek responded to the fire which remains under investigation.

DUPLIN COUNTY - A young Potters Hill firefighter stops to rest as flames from a training fire rage in the background. Six local departments gathered recently to level a termite infested dwelling on Jackson Store Road in Beulaville. The exercise was organized by the Lyman Fire Department.
