USAR Exercise

MON DEC 10
SUBMITTED BY MIKE LEGEROS, CFP-7474

RALEIGH -
The Raleigh Fire Department, Wake County EMS, and Hardin Construction partnered at a unique training session in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, September 22. Members of NC Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force 8 and Wake County EMS Hazardous Materials / Medical Emergency Rescue (HAMMER) participated in pair of drills at the 33-story RBC Plaza under construction on Martin Street between Fayetteville and Wilmington streets.

Pictured is the first exercise that lowered a 170-pound dummy from the 18th floor. Responders navigated up a material hoist, stairs and ladders to reach the victim. The mock patient was stabilized, prepared, packaged, and then removed using a tower crane.
