McDOWELL COUNTY - Units from
McDowell, Rutherford and Burke Counties along with aero-medical
choppers from Med-Center Air and Regional One responded to an
overturned activity bus carrying 50. Two students and a teacher were
injured. The crash which occurred on November 8 happened on NC
Highway 226 just south of Marion between Interstate 40 and Highway
64.

WAKE FOREST - Wake Forest
firefighters stayed busy last Thursday removing trees from roadways
and securing flooded roads after a line of heavy weather moved
through the area. This was the same system responsible for seven
fatalities in Columbus County.

MILLS RIVER - Tanker 1854 is
seen preparing to attack a woods fire that occurred today on Dream
View Drive off of NC Highway 280. Etowah Horseshoe was called for
mutual aid along with the North Carolina Forestry Service. The fire,
which burned three acres before containment, was in a steep ravine
about halfway up the side of the mountain.

DURHAM - Battalion Chiefs 1 and
2, Engines 1, 2 and 7, Ladders 1 and 2, Squad 2, MS1 (Air) and FD5
found heavy smoke showing on arrival at an afternoon house fire
Wednesday on West Knox Street. Two lines extinguished the fire.
Searches were negative and there were no injuries. Shown above is
the crew from Ladder Company 1.

CATAWBA COUNTY - This SUV left
the roadway and struck a power pole along Murray's Hill Road in
Catawba on November 13. Power was out in the area for about three
hours. Catawba Station 8 along with Bandys Station 9 and Catawba
Rescue responded.

JOHNSTON COUNTY - Micro and
Bethany fire, North Johnston and Selma EMS responded to this fatal
crash Monday November 13. The fatality was pinned underneath the van
and five others were injured. Two were airlifted to trauma centers
via LifeFlight and Air Care.

GASTON COUNTY - On November 11,
the Community Volunteer Fire Department (Gaston County Station 32)
celebrated its 50th anniversary with a day filled with fun and
demonstrations for the community. The department was chartered in
1956 and has been in continuous operation since. The station serves
approximately 10,000 residents and answers over 600 fire, rescue and
EMS calls a year.
