Rutherford County House Fire With Rescue

ELLENBORO - The
Ellenboro Fire Department responded to this house fire on
October 19th. Mutual aid was received from Bostic, Forest City,
Rutherford EMS and Rutherford County Rescue.
A nearby, off-duty paid firefighter, Jason Matheny was nearby
painting a house for a friend on the same street when he heard
the call come over his pager. He jumped into his vehicle and
arrived on scene within seconds. The wife of the man pulled out
of the burning house told Jason that her husband couldn’t get
out of the house. Jason entered the house and rescued the
homeowner. Three people, including the heroic firefighter were
taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and minor injuries.

Plane Crash in Cramerton

CRAMERTON - The
Cramerton Fire Department in Gaston County responded to this
downed plane on Friday. Additional departments responding
included New Hope, McAdenville, Lowell and Union Road. The pilot
was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

MVC on Blue Ridge Parkway

SKYLAND -
On Friday October 26th at 1100 hrs, the
Skyland Fire-Rescue Department responded to a reported MVA with
vehicle over the embankment near the 399 mile marker of the Blue
Ridge Parkway. The female driver of the vehicle stated she had ran
off the roadway approximately 1 hour prior to the dispatch.
The female driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was able
to climb out of the vehicle and up the embankment where passersby
stopped and called 911. The driver denied any injuries but was
transported to Mission Hospital by ambulance for evaluation. It was
estimated the vehicle went approximately 400 feet over the
embankment rolling over several times before landing on its top onto
several large rocks.

Two Alarm Fire Presents Access Problems for
Firefighters

RALEIGH - Raleigh firefighters use the ladder pipe from Ladder 1 to
knockdown a fire at a trailer rental company Friday night. Officials
say the fire was suspicious. Crews were hampered by a lack of access
and several guard dogs on the property.
