BELVILLE - Known as a haven for
drugs and prostitution, the Town and Country Motel was
completely destroyed Monday evening. Four days earlier, the
owner was arrested. Wilmington, Leland, Northwest and New
Hanover County units responded.

CHERRYVILLE -
The Cherryville Fire Department
conducted a live burn on Monday October 23 at this dwelling that
originally caught fire on July 4th. Several new volunteers were
allowed to have thier first experience at a structure fire.

DURHAM -
The Durham Fire Department has
placed Fire Station 16 in service as of October 25. The newest
station is located at 6303 Farrington Road in southwest Durham.
Station 16 has been designated as the USAR Station. Durham is
part of North Carolina Task Force 8. Engine Company 16 is now
first due at the large Streets of Southpointe Mall area.

JOHNSTON COUNTY - The Clayton Fire
Department stood by as crews from Piedmont Natural Gas capped a
four inch line that was struck by a trackhoe on Glen Laurel
Road. The road was closed for several hours. This was the second
significant gas leak in the county Wednesday.

RALEIGH - We have now made membership
to the Carolinas Fire Page email list open to anyone. Previously,
you had to be a current member of CFP to be added. This list has
been in existence since 2000. This is just one more format we are
providing for the fire service to be able to communicate with each
other.
