Forsyth County Church Fire

TOBACCOVILLE -
The Old Richmond Fire Department was
dispatched to a reported structure fire Sunday, October 14th at
6:55 am. Upon arrival, heavy flames and smoke were visible from a
church. An hour into the fire, the roof and exterior walls
collapsed. Assisting units were Vienna FD, Rural Hall FD, King FD,
Lewisville FD, East Bend FD, Forsyth County FD, and Forsyth County
EMS. Old Richmond Fire Department greatly appreciates the
assistance received from neighboring departments.

Pine Level House Fire

JOHNSTON COUNTY -
A suspicious fire
destroyed the home of Pine Level Commissioner Jimmy Garner on
Saturday. The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office and Pine Level
Police are investigating. Around 9:35am, crews from Pine Level,
Selma, Brogden and Princeton were dispatched to Garner’s residence
after a passing motorist spotted flames and dialed 911. Garner and
his family were out of town when the fire broke out. However,
several of the family’s pets perished in the blaze. The home is a
total loss. The fire is believed to have started in a rear living
room area that had been converted from a carport. Several
firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
"We had a good working fire in the rear of the structure," said
Phillip McDaniel, interim assistant fire chief in Pine Level. "We
made a quick attack."

BLADENBORO - The Bladenboro Fire Department was dispatched to a
collision involving a train Saturday night around midnight at Main
and Railroad Streets. No one was found around the vehicle.
Bladenboro PD is investigating; Bladen County EMS and Bladenboro
Rescue also responded.
