Nearly Twenty Counties Without 911
Service

CENTRAL and EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA
- 911 service is temporarily out due to a phone company issue.
Included in the outage: BEAUFORT, BERTIE, CARTERET, CHATHAM,
CRAVEN, EDGECOMBE, FRANKLIN, JOHNSTON, LENOIR, MARTIN, MOORE,
NASH, PAMLICO, PITT, VANCE, WASHINGTON and WILSON counties.

CHAPEL HILL - Chapel Hill, along
with assistance from New Hope and Parkwood fire departments
responded to a house fire on Erwin Road on Friday. Three
firefighters suffered minor injuries at the fire, which took
nearly two and a half hours to control.

Rescue was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Interstate 40 on
Sunday. Foam was used for suppression. CFP Dispatcher 743 is

House Fire With Burn Injuries

GASTONIA -
On Sunday afternoon, October 1,
the Gastonia Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at
2040 Simmons Street. The first Engine on scene found light smoke
showing from the front door of the residence and a male patient
lying in the driveway. The Engine Company divided into two teams,
one to assist the patient and one to knock down the fire. The
patient suffered second and third degree burn to his upper
extremities. The patient was transported to Gaston Memorial Hospital
then to the Chapel Hill Burn Center. The fire is still under
investigation.
