FEATURED SHOT
MON SEP 04
SUBMITTED BY MIKE LEGEROS, CFP-7474
RALEIGH - Personnel and
neighborhood volunteers planted over forty new shrubs and three
trees at Raleigh Fire Station 5 last month. The plants and mulch
materials were donated by the Cameron Park Neighborhood
Association. The soil was tilled ahead of time by "C" shift
members, and the planting was performed by "B" shift members and
some 20 neighborhood volunteers.
The trees include two oak saplings grown from the 300 year-old
Henry Clay Oak, one of Raleigh's most famous trees until taken
by disease in 1991. The trees were planted on the west side of
the station lot, and will provide that side of the building with
shade in future years.
