CHARLOTTE - Charlotte firefighters
along with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Medic were called to
a two-car crash in the 2900 block of North Graham street Tuesday
afternoon. Ladder Company 4 arrived first to report four (4)
people were injured among two vehicles that collided at the
intersection.
Additional fire companies were requested to rescue, treat, and
stabilize those people that were injured at this crash scene. It
took Charlotte firefighters and Medic less then twenty minutes
to provide care and prepare to transport those injured to area
hospitals. Their conditions were unavailable, though only adults
were hurt.

WINSTON-SALEM -
The Winston-Salem Fire
Department responded to a MVC with a fatality on June 26 at
1436 hours. A van operated by an employee of Time Warner Cable
crossed the center line and struck a dump truck head on. The
driver of the van died instantly. The driver of the dump
truck was not injured. Companies on scene controlled a large
fluid spill from both trucks. A heavy wrecker was called to
lift the truck off of the van so the victim could be
extricated. Haz Mat/Rescue 1 responded along with Truck 1 and
Battalion 2 and Battalion 3.

HAYWOOD COUNTY - Lake Logan,
Center Pigeon and Cruso fire departments responded to this
fire at a trout farm and processing plant in the Lake Logan
community of Haywood County. The blaze was reported at 5:45
am but had been burning for some time in a remote area.
Burglars broke into the plant and stole thousands of dollars
worth of caviar then set the building on fire. The SBI and the
Fire Marshal's Office are investigating along with the
Haywood County Sheriff's Department.

HICKORY - After thirty years of
service, Fire Captain Gary Annas has retired from the Hickory
Fire Department. Annas began his employment with the City of
Hickory on December 3, 1974, when he was hired as a firefighter.
During his career, he was promoted tot several positions
including Fire Engineer, Lieutenant, and to Captain, a position
which he held until his retirement.

A ceremony was held at the City Council
Chambers on Tuesday, August 8 honoring promoted Raleigh Fire
Department members Assistant Chief T. A. Styons, Division Chief
H. F. Warner, Battalion Chief B. R. Harvey, Battalion Chief E.
M. Martin, Battalion Chief P. G. Pickard, Captain P. E. Dean,
Captain J. R. Faison, Captain W. L. Mayo, Lieutenant M. F.
Kelling, Lieutenant R. L. Ketchie, Lieutenant N. L. Murray, and
Lieutenant W. M. Stanfield. Family members and department
members posed for photos outside the council chambers after the
ceremony. The event concluded with a reception at nearby Fire
Station 1.
