Wilmington Gets New Fire Boat
MON AUG 06
SUBMITTED BY WILMINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT
WILMINGTON - It's not often we get to report on a new fire boat.
Wilmington received their long-awaited $1.5 million fire boat on
July 19. The craft is a Firestorm 50 manufactured by
MetalCraft Marine. It provides more speed, maneuverability and
pumping capacity than any other high speed fireboat.
The 50' boat is capable of supplying 7,000 gallons of water per
minute. It can operate in shallow water and supply foam. It will be
manned by firefighter from Engine 1. The fire boat is docked at the
Conlon Pier behind the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.
