KENANSVILLE - On June 23, the
Kenansville and Sarecta Fire Departments were dispatched to a
structure fire at 193 Sarecta Road, Kenansville. Car 3 arrived and
declared a working fire at 0118.
The one-story brick structure was 50% involved on arrival. A
special call was placed for Albertson Fire. The fire was placed
under control at 0128, and units remained on scene for over two
hours completing salvage and overhaul.

NASH COUNTY - A passenger vehicle
traveling east on the Highway 64 Bypass crossed the median and
struck another vehicle and then a tractor-trailer, eventually
coming to rest in the westbound lanes. The driver of the car was
transported to Nash General. The truck driver was not injured. The
truck suffered a ruptured saddle tank, which was quickly contained
by the Nashville Fire Department and Eastern Environmental
Management.

CASTORIA - Castoria Fire-EMS was
joined by over twelve departments from four counties to battle
large kenaf bail fires. Kenaf is a natural fiber that is processed
at a plant there. This represents the third large fire since the
plant opened. Lightning is believed to be the cause of the fire.
Units responded from Pitt, Wilson, Lenoir and Greene counties.

LONG VIEW - On July 3 at 0422,
the Long View Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire.
Engine 24 was first on scene and reported a well involved
single-story wood frame structure. C-200 established Command and
called for engines from Hickory, Mountain View and Icard Fire.
Bystanders prompted an extensive search for the occupants, but
fortunately they had stayed at another location for the night. The
investigation into the cause continues.
