Church Destroyed in Multiple Alarm Fire

PAMLICO COUNTY -
All nine Pamlico County fire departments responded to this heavily
involved church fire on Monday, June 25. The structure was located
on Highway 306. The old heavy timber structure had heavy fire
showing on arrival.
Mutual aid also responded from Beaufort and Craven County, including
a ladder from the City of New Bern. It took over five hours to
control the fire.

Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Scholarship Too

RANDOLPH COUNTY -
The Piedmont N.C. Firefighters
Association (PNCFA) presented Victory Junction Gang Camp a check for
$3600.00 during its Board Meeting on June 27. The PNCFA held a
charity golf tournament to raise the funds to sponsor a child to
attend Victory Junction Gang Camp and for the PNCFA scholarship
fund.
The camp operates solely on the donations from corporations,
organizations and individuals and serves children that would not
otherwise be able to attend a camp because of their medical needs.

had the chance to visit the National Fire House and Museum of
Philadelphia on a recent trip. This restored firehouse is in the
heart of the city's historic Old City district and is one of the
nation's premier fire museums. Also featured in the slideshow is
nearby Engine 8 and Ladder 2.

Goldsboro Fire Responds to
Assist With Bear in the City

GOLDSBORO - On Tuesday, June 26, Goldsboro Fire assisted Goldsboro
Police and NC Wildlife officials in the capture of a bear that was
in the city. The bear was sighted in a residential and business
area, but was hiding in thick brush. Firefighters using two thermal
imaging cameras quickly located the visitor.
The estimated 300 pound bear was returned to his natural habitat
without injury to the bear or humans. Just another way firefighters
always answer the call for help.
