Conference Showcases Lastest for 911 Centers

CHARLOTTE - Emergency Management officials and 911 Operators from
around the nation have been in Charlotte the last few days seeing
the latest in technology for 911 centers. Johnston County's 911
Director Jason Barbour is currently serving at the President for the
Association. Attendees had the
opportunity to view the communication centers for CMPD, Charlotte
Fire Alarm, Medic and On-Star.

CALDWELL
COUNTY - On June 8 at 0154
hours, the Hudson Fire Department responded to a reported structure
fire that was reported by a newspaper delivery person. First in
units found smoke and flames visible. Firefighters were able to
contain the damage to one room and the attic area. No residents were
at home at the time of the fire.

Lightning Strike Blamed
for House Fire

KERNERSVILLE - The Kernersville
Fire Department responded to a working fire on Tredagar Road. The
homeowner advised the house was struck by lightning just as she was
arriving home. She entered the house, smelled smoke then called the
fire department. First in units had heavy smoke conditions with a
working fire on the second floor.
A second alarm was called, but several of the additional companies
were diverted to other calls in the area due to the storm. Engines
42, 44, 41, 43, Truck 41 responded and were assisted by Engine 126
and Rescue 626 from Beeson's. Colfax, Piney Grove, Union Cross and
Talley's Crossings provided coverage for the city during the
incident. Damages were estimated at $175,000.

Crews Practice Extrication and Car Fire Evolutions

ROCKINGHAM
COUNTY - On Monday, the Wenworth Volunteer Fire Department conducted
a training session at the RCC Emergency Services Training Center.
Personnel from Oregon Hill and Yanceyville also participated. The
training included practice with vehicle extrication using hand and
hydraulic tools as well as vehicle fires. The instructor was Anthony
Crowder of the Yanceyville Road VFD.

Fire Conditions at House Fire

HIGH POINT - High Point crews were dispatched to a house fire at 232
Edgeworth. Engine 1 and 3 stretched a 1.75 inch line for a quick
knock-down. One person was transported for smoke inhalation. This
was the first of three working fires that day for Engine One.
