HOT
SHOT
WED JUN 06
SUBMITTED BY KEVIN HALL, MADISON FIRE DEPARTMENT, CFP-5413
MADISON -
Madison Fire Department
was dispatched to a MVC with injuries in the parking lot at The
Madison Center on North Highway Street. On arrival units found a
Ford truck had veered off the street through a hedge and struck
three unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot. The driver of the
truck had apparently experienced a diabetic episode causing him to
lose control of the vehicle.
If the truck had not struck the vehicles, it would have crashed into
the structure through the glass front lobby area and plunged to the
basement through the open main stairwell. The driver was transported
by RCEMS.

Life Vests Donated to Denver Fire
Department
WED JUN 06
SUBMITTED BY KERI WRIGHT
DENVER
- On Thursday, May 31st
Rex and Sonji McKinney of McKinney Radiator made a special donation
to the Denver Fire Department of two Stearns Sospender life vests.
The Lake Norman Sail and Power Squadron donated two vests as well.
After a recent drowning on Lake Norman, the Power Squadron
approached Denver Fire Department about offering a boater safety
class. During this class, Rex and Sonji saw photos of Denver Fire
Department members aboard Marine 19 in their life vests.
Understanding how the bulky vests could slow down or impede the fire
fighters, the McKinney’s decided to help. The Stearns Sospender
inflatable
lifejackets are lightweight, comfortable, and allow freedom of
movement while providing maximum buoyancy.
