CLEVELAND COUNTY - On May 19, the Cleveland Fire Department, Oak Grove and Township 3 fire departments were dispatched to a house fire at 2408 Eleanor Drive. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 15 minutes. The cause of the fire was determined to be an unattended stove.

WINSTON-SALEM - The Winston-Salem Fire Department responded to an overturned motorized construction lift today. Engine 18 arrived to find the operating suffering a severe injury, however he was free of the equipment. He was transported to North Carolina Baptist Hospital by Forsyth County EMS. Haz-mat 2 responded to handle the diesel fuel spill. WSFD was also assisted by Lewisville and Vienna VFDs.

LINCOLN COUNTY - On Thursday, May 11, the Denver Fire Department conducted in-house training on a school bus. It consisted of classroom training, tours of both school and charter buses and hands on training on a school bus.

Emphasis was placed on scene management, mass patient triage techniques, electrical and fuel shut off locations, emergency exit utilization and extrication considerations. Fifteen firefighters participated in the three hour training session.

RALEIGH - Four new pumpers have been delivered to the Raleigh Fire Department. The 2006 Pierce Enforcers are pictured at the Support Services Center on New Bern Avenue. The apparatus order also included a 2006 Pierce Arrow XT rear-mount 105-foot ladder that has already been placed in service as Truck 26. Also pictured is the recently delivered replacement for Haz-Mat 2, a 2006 Freightliner/Hackney.
