RALEIGH - On Saturday, May 6, the North Carolina Fallen
Firefighters Foundation Memorial was dedicated in downtown Raleigh.
Hundreds of firefighters and family members from around the state
attended the all-day event at Nash Square.

WINSTON-SALEM -
The Winston-Salem Fire Department
responded to a wreck with a nine year old child trapped inside on
May 18, 2006. Engine 14, Truck 3 and Battalion 3 arrived to find a
two vehicle accident with a mini-van on it's side. A nine year old
female was trapped inside the van.
Truck 3 used high lift jacks and cribbing to stabilize the vehicle.
Firefighter Travis Walker crawled inside. He used hand tools and a sawzall successfully extricated the child. The child was
transported to NC Baptist Hospital by the Forsyth County FCEMS.

CATAWBA COUNTY - Catawba
Station 8 was dispatched to this house fire on Russell-Taylor Drive
in Catawba around 10:45 on Thursday. Responding units reported smoke
visible from at least four miles away. On arrival, companies found
the dwelling fully involved. Sherrills Ford Station 16 and Bandy's
Crossroads Station 9 also responded. There were no injuries, and the
house was abandoned.

Woman Pinned in Pikeville Crash

WAYNE COUNTY - Three people were injured and two vehicles
severely damaged Friday in a crash seven miles west of Pikeville.
