GASTONIA - The Gastonia
Fire Department responded to this automobile collision Saturday
morning where the driver literally wrapped his car around a
telephone pole. The extrication was difficult due to the severity of
the impact with the frame of the car being wrapped on the driver.
The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

CHATHAM COUNTY -
Firefighters from Siler City fight a fire in a garage on Willet
Road, just north of Siler City last Wednesday afternoon. The fire
destroyed the garage along with two cars. Silk Hope and Staley
responded mutual aid.

BB&T Insurance Services Vice President Todd Williams (far left),
Goldsboro Mayor Al King, Fire Chief Alvin Ward and Fireman's Fund
Insurance Company Business Management Developer Erin Lavely hold a
check for $6,000 to the Goldsboro Fire Department. The department
received a grant for three automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
The grant was made through the Fireman's Fund Heritage program,
Fireman's Fund Insurance Company's social mission to support
firefighters for safer communities.

RALEIGH - A North Carolina State Trooper conducting a traffic stop
on Interstate 40 between Gorman Street and US 1 was rear-ended by a
small work truck, in direct violation of the state's new "Move Over"
law. The trooper and his passenger received minor injuries. Wake and
Cary EMS responded along with Raleigh, Swift Creek and Western Wake
Fire.

GARNER - Garner Fire, Garner Rescue and Wake EMS responded to this
MVC involving a motorcycle on Sunday, March 25, on White Oak Road.
The patient was transported with minor injuries by EMS 11.

ELON - Elon Fire responded to this vehicle fire on Interstate 85/40
earlier this year. Engine 80 arrived to find an older model Chevy
S-10 with heavy fire to the engine and cab. Firefighters from
Whitsett (Guilford Station 31) assisted.
