BURKE
- Firefighters from Rhodhiss were dispatches at 1639 on Sunday
evening to a structure fire at 205 Hickory Street. Granite Falls and
Drowning Creek stations were called for Mutual Aid. Smoke detectors
are credited with alerting the homeowners just in time. Firefighters
were able to rescue some birds, dogs and two pigs from the house.

WILMINGTON - Firefighters from Engine and Squad 1 popped a door on
this truck that flipped on Monday morning just a block (10th and
Market) from Headquarters Fire Station. This intersection has seen
its share of collisions.

RALEIGH - The Carolina Leatherheads defeated the Blueliners 7 to 6
in the Battle of the Badges Hockey Game on March 25. The charity
game took place at the RBC Center with over 1,100 fans in
attendance. Players from the Carolina Hurricanes served as honorary
coaches for both teams. The event raised over $8,700. The teams are
made up of Firefighters and Police Officers from the Triangle.

GUILFORD COUNTY -
Volunteers and part-time personnel from Oakridge (Stations 15 and
51) recently participated in LP gas training. Crews were able to run
both one and two team evolutions.

JOHNSTON COUNTY - Firefighters from Clayton, Cleveland and Garner
Fire Departments along with the North Carolina Forestry Service
spent over five hours fighting a remote 45 acre woods fire near
Cornwallis Road. Clayton Fire Chief Lee Barbee said the fire covered
about five acres when his units arrived on scene. NCSFS trucked in
two plows to cut lines around the fire.

DAVIDSON COUNTY - The
Churchland and Linwood Fire Departments responded to Interstate 85
South between Exits 86 and 85 for a motor vehicle collision
involving two tractor-trailers. Southbound I-85 was shut down for
approximately twelve hours. Four additional crashes occurred in the
area during cleanup. No injuries were reported in the
tractor-trailer crashes, and only minor injuries occurred in the
other collisions.

CHARLOTTE - On Sunday March 11, CMPD, MCSD, Medic and the Charlotte
Fire Department presented a Salute to Heroes before the Charlotte
Checkers game. After the game, CFD and Medic played the cops and
won, 6 to 4.

DEPARTMENT
WAKE COUNTY - On April 21, the Falls Fire Department in northern
Wake County responded to a vehicle collision with injuries in the
12000 block of Falls of the Neuse Road. Upon Engine 211's arrival,
companies found a one vehicle crash with one patient lying in the
roadway and one patient pinned. The City of Raleigh and the Wake
Forest Fire Department responded mutual aid to assist with
extrication.
