HICKORY - On Thursday, April 5 at 2:35 a.m., Hickory firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 1100 Block of 21st Ave NE at the Hampton East townhomes. Arriving at 2:40 a.m., firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from one unit, which consisted of three townhomes that were under construction. The fire had also spread to another unit, which consisted of two unoccupied townhomes.
