RALEIGH - Ladder 23 encountered heavy fire as the first arriving
unit at 9105 Meadow Mist Court on Monday afternoon. Crews pulled two
hand lines to protect two exposures, while an aerial stream
attacked the fire. Engine 24 arrived second and supplied the ladder
company. Units on scene at the two-alarm house fire included: E24,
E23, E17, E18, E16, E14, L23, L16, R14, R19, BC4, BC1, Car 5, Air 8,
Bethesda E425, Six Forks EMS 1272, 1271, 1268, and Wake EMS 203,
205.

ALAMANCE COUNTY - On Monday, April 2, firefighters from Elon College and Altamahaw Ossipee responded to a structure fire on Pollard
Avenue in Glen Raven. Elon Engine 82 was the first-arriving unit and
transmitted a working fire. Crews encountered a single-story frame
structure with fire in the attic. Elon Engine 80 and Rescue 84
assisted with suppression and ventilation operations. The fire
was confined to the attic area. Units on scene: Elon E82, E80, R84, C87, AO
E22, Air 1, and Alamance EMS 102. |

MOORESVILLE - On Saturday, March 31 at approximately 1:12 p.m., the Mooresville Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 Block of
N. Main Street for a building fire in the historical section of downtown Mooresville.
Arriving units found fire that had extended three floors. Mutual aid from Shepherds
and South Iredell and ladder companies from Davidson and Statesville
fire departments were immediately requested. Additional stand-by assistance was requested
from Mount Mourne, Lake Norman, and West Rowan
fire departments. A recall of all Mooresville fire personnel was
also issued using the city's new CTY Connect phone system. The fire
was contained to the building of origin by the quick aggressive work
of the first-due companies. The cause was determined as accidental
and related to cooking.
Damage is estimated around $800,000.00. Units operated on scene for about
five hours.

EAST ROCKINGHAM - On Friday, March 30, at
approximately 01:00 a.m., Cordova Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a motor-vehicle accident on Highway 74 Bypass at exit 308. Arriving units found a truck driver pinned from the waist down. Extrication was started immediately. The victim was freed after 74 minutes and airlifted by Carolina Air Care to a nearby
trauma center. Other agencies assisting responders included First
Health EMS, the Richmond County Sheriffs Department, the North Carolina Highway Patrol,
and Watson's Wrecker Service. |

HICKORY - On Thursday, April 5 at 2:35 a.m., Hickory firefighters
responded to a structure fire in the 1100 Block of 21st Ave NE at
the Hampton East townhomes. Arriving at 2:40 a.m., firefighters
found heavy fire and smoke coming from one unit, which consisted of
three townhomes that were under construction. The fire had also
spread to another unit, which consisted of two unoccupied townhomes.
First arriving units worked to extinguish the two involved structures and additional firefighters responded to assist with the
incident. Additional arriving crews checked two adjacent townhomes for
fire and smoke damage and evacuated two occupants from the
structure.
Due to the quick actions of the Hickory Fire Department, only two townhomes were
heavily damaged. A third townhome sustained minor damage. No
injuries were reported.
Four engines, one ladder, one support unit, and one command unit
with a total of 24 personnel responded. Hickory Rescue and Catawba
County EMS were also on scene. St. Stephens, Mountain View, and Long
View fire departments also assisted and helped cover the city.
Investigators from both Hickory fire and police departments were on
the scene, working to determine the cause of the fire. The incident
is suspicious and is under investigation. Persons with information
