MADISON - The Bethany Fire Department was dispatched to this structure fire at 0030 hours at 479 Griffin Road. Bethany was assisted by Huntsville and Jacobs Creek. Units found a single story wood frame dwelling 50% involved on arrival. An aggressive offensive attack was initiated and the fire was knocked down fairly quickly.

SAMPSON COUNTY - On Friday, February 23 at 1420 hours, Sampson Communications dispatched Turkey, Piney Grove and Faison to a commercial structure fire on Lake Artesia Road. On arrival of Turkey Engine 833, units encountered a large old turkey house used for storage that was fully involved. The fire was threatening exposures.

KERNERSVILLE - On February 17, all Kernersville Fire units were either tied up or responding to working incidents when another building fire was reported.  Engine 42 was diverted and arrived on scene to find heavy smoke showing at a laundromat. Piney Grove Station 32, High Point Engine 26 and Kernersville Truck 41 assisted in attack and ventilation. A faulty dryer was determined to be the cause of the fire.

HALIFAX COUNTY - Several senior citizens were treated when their tour bus rolled after striking a backing up tractor trailer near Weldon. The tour bus was returning to Williamston from Atlantic City, NJ. Fifty people were transported, but only 21 required treatment. The truck driver was charged with improper backing.

CRAVEN COUNTY - The West of New Bern Volunteer Fire Department and Township Number Seven Fire Department conducted a live burn training on Saturday, March 3. The house was utilized to train firefighters in both interior and exterior firefighting. Companies were also able to complete the Department of Insurance's Live Burn Instructor Certification for two local instructors.

STATESVILLE - The Cools Spring Fire Department along with County Line and Iredell Rescue responded for this overturned tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 near mile 159. The crash occurred on February 7 around 0800 hours.

MORRISVILLE - On Wednesday, February 28 the Town of Morrisville Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus a train at the intersection of Morrisville Carpenter Road and Chapel Hill Road. A vehicle became disabled on the the tracks, and within minutes after the motorist exited the vehicle, a north bound Amtrak train carrying 81 passengers collided with the vehicle sending the vehicle airborne and into a Toyota Corolla headed South on Chapel Hill Rd. No injuries were reported in the accident. Morrisville Engine 21, Engine 2, Truck 2, Car 1, and the Cary Fire Department responded.
