Wake and Clayton Fire Assist Garner

GARNER - Several companies were
dispatched to this house fire in the 300 block of Queen Guinevere
Trail off of Raynor Road in the Camelot subdivision Saturday night.
Fortunately no residents were at home. Garner Car 2 was the Incident
Commander. Additional units assisting were Eastern Wake and Clayton
Fire, Garner EMS, Clayton EMS, Garner Rescue and the Wake County
Sheriff's Office. The Wake County Fire Marshal's Office is
investigating the cause.

CHARLOTTE - Just after 2200 hours on February 17, numerous calls
starting coming into Charlotte Fire 911 Communications reporting
a fire at the Spring Square Condominiums at 425 West 8th Street.
As firefighters arrived, they reported fire already showing from
the third floor balcony and spreading to the roof.
A second alarm was struck and companies were able to control the
fire in approximately 45 minutes. Two dogs were rescued by
firefighters. The American Red Cross was called to assist with
displaced residents.

KERNERSVILLE -
On February 10 the Kernersville Fire Department responded to a
working apartment fire. Engine-41 arrived on scene with heavy
fire showing and immediately called for a second alarm. All
residents were evacuated and crews made a spectacular stop of
the fire and confined damage to four of the eight units, even
though the attic was well involved upon arrival.
E-41, E-42, E-43, E-44, Sq-41, Truck 41, Battalion 41 along
with Beeson's Crossroads Station 26 and Colfax Station 16
responded. Talley's Crossing Station 25 and 17 and Union Cross
Station 28 provided fill in coverage for the city. The fire
started due to an overheated fireplace, igniting the wooden
chimney enclosure.

HICKORY - Hickory firefighters
were recently honored for their service to the Fairbrook Rural Fire
District. Hershel Canipe of Hickory presented the firefighters from
stations #5 and #7 with a miniature cannon. The cannon, completed
in 2006, is hand crafted with a hand rubbed hard wood frame and is
fully functional. It is one of only sixteen made and Mr. Canipe
also stated it may be his last. Also presented was a framed
certificate with a photo of Mr. Canipe, his wife, and a signed
certificate of authenticity.
“The firefighters were overwhelmed at this gift of generosity from
the Canipe family and will cherish it for years to come,” states
Captain Josh Starnes. “May God bless this family and we thank the
Canipe family from the bottom of our hearts.” The cannon, along with
the certificates, will be displayed at Hickory fire station #5.

WINSTON-SALEM - On Saturday
February 24, Winston-Salem units were dispatched to this house fire
on Lincoln Avenue. Engine 1 arrived first to find heavy smoke
visible from the structure. Engine 1 quickly knocked down the fire
and contained it to the room of origin. Truck 1 was assigned
Ventilation. There were no injuries. Units responding were Engine 1,
3, Truck 1, Rescue 1 and Battalion Chief 3.
