SUBMITTED BY CARTER RABIL, CFP-733
JOHNSTON COUNTY - Kenly and Micro Fire and North Johnston EMS
responded to what they thought was a routine vehicle fire Sunday
night. On arrival, Kenly Fire Chief Paul Whitehurst and
firefighters sized up the crash and quickly extinguished the blaze
in one truck to find one victim.
Two close friends, both drivers, from North Johnston High School
were killed. Another friend was airlifted via Pedro, the military
aero-medical unit, due to weather conditions grounding all
civilian choppers. It is unclear why the vehicles were traveling
in opposite directions. The NCSHP is investigating.
