FAYETTEVILLE - Fayetteville Truck
9, a recently acquired Ferrara ladder, was destroyed on December 18 while returning from providing coverage at Station 1
downtown. A concrete mixer struck the rig on Santa Fe Drive
over the All-American Expressway. No firefighters were injured,
although the crew was transported as a precaution.

WINSTON-SALEM -
On Wednesday January 10, the
Winston-Salem Fire Department responded to this fire in a single
family dwelling on Wintergreen Avenue. Engine Company 11 was first
on scene to find heavy fire conditions from Division "C" and "D" of
the structure. There was one civilian burn victim on the scene.
Due to a floor collapse present when companies arrived, units were
forced to go to a defensive attack on the structure. Companies
assigned were Engine 11, Engine 4, Engine 19, Truck 2, Air Resource
1, Rescue 1 and Battalion Chiefs 2 and 3. The Winston-Salem Fire
Marshal's Office also assisted in the investigation of the fire.

DUPLIN COUNTY - On Sunday
November 26 at appoximately 40 members from Lyman, Chinquapin,
Fountaintown, Pin Hook, Potters Hill, and Beulaville Fire
Departments participated in a live training burn in the 1100 block
of Jackson Store Road. The five room home was given to the Lyman
Fire Department to train on after the family tried to renovate the
home but found too much termite damage and give it to the fire
department to burn.

HAYWOOD COUNTY - On October 12th a fire was reported at the Soco
Mountain Rustics gift shop in Maggie Valley. Firefighters from
Maggie Valley, Jonathon Creek, Clyde, Junaluska and Waynesville fought
high winds and had the fire under control in a short time. The Fire
Marshal's office stated the fire originated on the front porch of
the building and the fire is under investigation. Haywood Emergency
Services and
Rescue Squad were on scene until the clean up operation was complete.
