POSITION TITLE: FIRE MARSHAL

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Fire/Life Safety

SALARY: $60,457.86 – $90,686.79

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday and as necessary.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· Manages the daily operations of the City’s fire prevention and code enforcement program.

· Reviews site plans and fire protection plans to ensure fire prevention code compliance for permitting and construction; consults with developers, contractors, architects and engineers.

· Conducts Certificate of Occupancy inspections, building final inspections and technical inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with state fire prevention codes and local ordinances.

· Prepares reports and letters of correspondence for plans review, inspection reports, complaints, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Associate’s degree in Fire, Emergency Services or a related field. Bachelor’s degree and EFO preferred.

· Three years of plans review experience, three years of personnel management experience, must possess keen writing and speaking skills.

· Level 3 Fire Inspector.

· Level 1 Fire and Life Safety Educator.

· Ability to obtain CPSE Fire Marshal Designation within 3 years.

· Ability to obtain NC Fire & Rescue Commission Fire Investigator Certification within 5 years.

· NC Medical Responder or higher preferred.
