Rockingham County to Consolidate 911 Services

Rockingham County

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY – Rockingham County said it has received a $7.8 million grant to consolidate its 911 consolidated communications system.

Susan Hall, director of Rockingham County 9-1-1, said the grant will allow the county to buy new equipment so 911 operators in Eden and Reidsville no longer will have to transfer EMS calls from those cities to county dispatchers.

Once the new 911 center is in operation, EMS, fire, police, sheriff and animal control calls will be dispatched out of a single location.

Calls from Madison, Mayodan and Stoneville already are handled by county dispatchers.

The grant is from the 911 Fund, which is administered by the N.C. 911 Board.
