Extrication by Fayetteville Fire Rescue

Cumberland County

FAYETTEVILLE – Two people had to be extricated from their vehicles following a collision Wednesday on Cliffdale Road.

The two drivers were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, police said.

The crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lansdowne Road, a few blocks west of Skibo road.

Police said Maria Hallman, 28, of Lansdowne Road, turned her BMW sports utility vehicle onto Cliffdale Road and into the path of a westbound BMW sedan.

Both vehicles came to rest in eastbound lanes. Hallman and the sedan’s driver, 24-year-old Blake Staples of Brentwinds Lane in Spring Lake, were pinned in their vehicles and had to be cut free by firefighters.

Two children, ages 4 and 6, were in Hallman’s vehicle. Both were taken to the hospital for evaluation but did not appear to be injured, police said.
