Incident description
The Elroy Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 300 Block of Garris Chapel Church Road. Seven Springs Chief checked on scene and gave a working fire with fire having already vented iteself through the roof. Elroy E3 arrived on scene soon after and lines were immediately stretched. Crews found heavy fire conditions in the rear of the structure and then made an aggressive interior attack. Interior crews managed to knock the majority of the fire back and the fire was marked under control in approximately 30 minutes. The fire was caused by cooking grease being left unattended. Crews remained on the scene for several hours dousing hot spots and spreading foam. Assisting departments were New Hope and Seven Springs both of Wayne County.
