APEX – Early in the afternoon of Saturday, November 26, six fire departments fought a house fire at 3604 Arthur Pierce Road. Fairview Fire Department units arrived at a 1.5-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling with 2,026 square-feet. Heavy fire was showing from the structure.
Crews from Fairview, Holly Springs, and Cary initiated an interior attack, while other units initiated water supply operations. A water point was established about a half-mile west at Arthur Pierce and Beckford roads. Tankers responded from Fairview, Swift Creek, and Apex fire departments.
Personnel were withdrawn from the structure due to water loss, during water-supply set-up. Defensive operations were soon started, due to partial collapse of the structure.
Additional hazards included propane tanks in the rear of structure, which were removed, and exploding ammunition inside.
Command and accountability was located in the driveway. Rehab and medical monitoring was on the opposite side of the street, in another driveway.
Arthur Pierce Road was closed during operations. Crews remained on scene until the early evening.
