SPENCER – Only an empty shell was left after a local plant caught fire overnight.
Fire burned the wooden building to the ground at the finishing plant on U.S. 29 North in Spencer.
Firefighters said it started around 10:50 p.m. Sunday.
The building was once a schoolhouse that had been converted to use by the factory.
The plant was in the process of being demolished.
Investigators said there were no hazardous materials in the building.
Fire officials will try and determine what caused the fire on Monday.
