Crowder’s Mountain Engine 55 Involved in Collision

GASTON COUNTY – Crowder’s Mountain Fire & Rescue was involved in a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Friday morning in Gaston County, North Carolina.

At 11:40am on Friday, November 4th 2011, Engine 55 from Crowder’s Mountain Fire & Rescue was struck from the side by a passenger vehicle.

At the time of the accident, Engine 55 was returning from a call and travelling north on Highway 321.

After having a green light, Engine 55 attempted to turn left on Crowder’s Creek Road, when the apparatus was struck on the passenger side.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was travelling southbound on Highway 321 at a speed of 45 miles per hour, the posted speed limit when the accident happened.

Two of the three occupants of the fire truck were transported to Gaston Memorial Hospital with non life threatening injuies.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured.

North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 55 sustained an estimated $150,000 worth of damages.

The passenger vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages.
