GASTON COUNTY – Two firefighters were injured when the fire truck they were in was involved in an accident on Friday.
The accident happened at Crowders Creek Road and York Highway and involved a truck from Crowders Mountain Fire Department, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The Highway Patrol said there were three firefighters in the truck and two were taken to Gaston County Memorial Hospital. The details of their injuries have not been released.
The fire truck was returning from a call when it was hit while making the turn onto Crowders Creek Road.
A spokesperson for the fire department estimated the truck suffered $150,000 worth of damage.
Crews are on the scene and have begun the clean up process. One lane on York Highway is opened for traffic.
